Director - Grocery Category - Amazon - Beijing

Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce retailer, is seeking a category leader to be based in Beijing to drive our Grocery business in China. The role will see that we continue to broaden our Grocery product selection, ensure a high level of product availability and competitive pricing to not only meet our revenue and margin goals but more importantly to deliver the highest level of customer experience. This person will be responsible for developing the Vendor Management team, negotiating, and managing key vendor relationship and work with cross functional teams to ensure the highest level of customer experience and make Amazon the most authoritative shopping destination for Grocery products in China. This role will include full P&L responsibility for Grocery line. Additionally, the candidate will play a leadership role outside of his direct team in areas such as operations, website experience, retail systems, and process improvements.
Grocery is currently comprised of local food products, imported food products, alcohol and pets, and all the business are rapidly expanding. Job Responsibilities:
· Manage a full P&L, including planning, forecasting and driving sales and profitability for Grocery.
· Develop and lead strategy for all vendor negotiations on an annual basis.
· Represent Amazon when meeting with senior executive teams from top vendors and build long term strategic relationships
· Development and execution of merchandising, marketing and promotional strategy on an annual basis.
· Lead weekly, monthly, quarterly business reviews and develop annual business plans
· Collaborate with cross functional teams on systems and processes improvement initiatives to support business needs.
· Develop and lead team of vendor managers, site merchandisers and in-stock managers.
· Manage the key business inputs of selection, pricing/promotion, and availability to achieve our sales and margin targets
· Passionate advocate for the customers and category within Amazon
· Integrate strong and clear analysis and business rationale into sound decision making
· Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects & partner relationships - work prioritization, planning and task delegation
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic qualifications:
· This position requires a minimum of a BA/BS in a quantitatively-oriented field such as Business, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or Mathematics from a top academic program, MBA from a reputable institution will definitely be a plus.
· Exceptionally strong negotiating skills and influencing abilities in dealing with both small and large vendor partners, candidate will solid key account management background will be a plus.
· 10+ years of successful track records in buying, account management, product management, project management, operations, and/or business/management consulting.
· 5+ years of experience in building and developing a high performance team
· Strong ownership, attention to details, result-oriented, and a business curiosity/strategic viewpoint.
· Good verbal and written English skills to communicate with top level executives.
· Exceptional analytical skills and extremely adapt in picking up new software system skills.

Preferred qualifications:
· MBA with relevant business experience (e-commerce, Retail, FMCG)
· Knowledge and previous experience in FMCG industry.
· E-commerce, distributor, manufacturer, and/or retail experience preferred.
