Director - Sales and Account Development - American Express - Shanghai, Beijing


Job description
The Director, Account Development & Sales in China will manage and lead a team of Account Development & Sales Managers mainly focusing on retaining and growing business from existing global accounts in China, and identify large and multinational sales opportunities from companies with HQ in China, with potential to become global American Express clients. In particular, the Director sales and account development will:

Develop specific market strategy in China to develop new business with large multinationals with HQ in China and grow charge volume from existing global accounts in China

Develop relationships at senior levels with existing global accounts to ensure we enhance and deepen our relationship and strengthen our position with these customers.
Ensure the teams conduct quarterly or bi-annual account review meetings with global accounts in China to ensure that we continue to focus on delivering value and customer centricity.
Identify growth opportunities with local multinational Chinese companies and develop a strategy to quickly transform those opportunities into billing, using a sales consultative approach
Provide clear leadership, direction and coaching to all team members, focusing on both sales and account development (schedule regular one-to-one with team members, regularly communicate on senior leadership direction, provide training as required etc.)
Ensure that the team is equipped to deliver the Value Proposition and our expertise in Expense Management to secure expansions, new business and cross sells within the specified portfolio.
Complete all reporting requirements accurately and on time as required by the business (e.g. reporting on billing, monthly Win/ Loss reporting, general ad-hoc requests etc.)
Conform to all American Express Policies & Procedures including ( but not limited to) Compliance and Corporate Governance related matters around Company and Legislative standards.
Build strong internal relationship with all colleagues across World Service, Card Acquisition Team, Travel Management Companies, Finance, Global Merchant Group, , Product Management, Implementations, and Product Development
Act as the senior point person in China for all new product development and launches, including the launch of lodge cards and virtual payment cards, interacting with third party vendors and processors as required.

Thorough and complete understanding of competitive products and value propositions
Excellent understanding of profitability drivers
Excellent verbal & written business communication skills
Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and understanding of technology in the industry.
