Role synopsis
The post-holder plays a key integration role among various Business Units and Functions in supporting the China Country Head Office. The strategy element of the role looks to support the development and advancement of BP’s strategy with & within China for the future. The performance management element helps to understand current performance and plans across all our businesses in China. The research element looks to manage, integrate, present and share knowledge, information and data of China’s competitive and energy landscape.
Key accountabilities
1. Support China’s strategy development & coordination
• Support the development of China context, including China macro, energy market, competitive landscapes, BP’s China story, etc.
• Provide portfolio analysis of the group business development with & within China.
• Provide Competitive Market analysis and reporting, working with the China businesses and Group CI.
• Support group and business development activities in market research, competitor analysis, etc.
2. Planning & Performance Management
• Lead the performance reporting of the consolidated BP China portfolio through working with a wide network of business, finance & other internal stakeholders.
• Generate pan China Management Information on a quarterly basis in conjunction with group and segment reporting processes
• Consolidate BP China mid/long term plans in conjunction with group and segment processes
3. Support Chief-of-Staff activities in China Country Head Office
• Prepare documents and presentations for internal/external communications
• Support preparation of briefs for senior visits (inbound & outbound)
4. Management of Knowledge on Energy Data and Competitors Intelligence
• Work closely with the Commercial Analyst and Market Analyst on the team to monitor the full range of China energy statistics from public and proprietary sources, and manage data/information (economics/energy data, energy projects information and competitor intelligence etc.) through systematic knowledge management.
• Promote information sharing across teams and across business/ functions
5. Provide ad hoc support to China country head office activities
• Work closely with other teams under the country head office (C&EA, policy, economics, technology) in multi-team studies & other initiatives.
• Support line manager in managing various projects
Essential Education
B.A. in Commerce, MBA preferred
Essential experience and job requirements
1. Industry knowledge and business acumen (skilful)
• 15+ years in the energy industry, with deep understanding on the overall China energy market landscapes
• Good understanding on BP group and its China business across segment and functions
2. Technical capability (skilful)
• Highly analytical and able to work through details while articulating key messages from complex and diverse sources of information
• Good understanding on financial reports and BP internal reporting processes
• Good financial modelling skills
• Master in PC skills, including Excel, PPT, and data processing
3. Communication & coordination (skilful)
• Able to drive processes involving multi parties across different business & functions
• Skilful in written and spoken English
• Basic project management skills
4. Teamwork (skilful)
• Proactive and work well under pressure with a strong focus on delivery
• Good team player with ability to connect with different stakeholders
