Job description

The Regional Ombudsman - Asia Region is responsible for carrying out the duties and operation of Pfizer's Office of the Ombudsman at all Pfizer locations and for all Pfizer colleagues in Asia. The position reports to the Chief Ombudsman of the Office of the Ombudsman.
The Office of the Ombudsman provides a place where all Pfizer employees can have a confidential, off-the-record conversation with a neutral party. The Ombudsman provides assistance and guidance in addressing and resolving work-related issues. As a designated neutral, the Ombudsman is not an advocate for any party, but is an objective advocate for fair process. The Ombudsman helps Pfizer to share best practices across the organization to prevent problems from recurring and to understand workplace issues in order to make improvements and changes. The Ombudsman Office performs its functions without supplanting the formal channels (e.g., Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, line management) or existing practices for dispute resolution.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
*Organizational Outreach and Education
oAssisting with the development and implementation of all materials necessary to establish and launch the Office of the Ombudsman in Asia including communication pieces, training and educational materials, policies and procedures, and all other materials necessary for the operation of the function.
oPresenting training and educational materials to Asia colleagues and senior leadership in order to effectively build the Office of the Ombudsman throughout Asia.

*Issue Identification and Resolution
oManaging and effectively addressing caseload of workplace issues brought by Asia colleagues to the Office.

*Issue Prevention
oMaintaining data in Ombudsman Office Case Management System.
oReporting issue trend data, impacts and early warnings in Asia to Chief Ombudsman and making recommendations to prevent issues from recurring.

*Office Management
oEnsuring that the Office practices in Asia adhere to the International Ombudsman Associations Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
oAssisting with all matters necessary to establish and successfully operate the Ombudsman function in Asia.

Qualifications

*Education
oAdvanced degree in a related field (e.g., MBA, JD, Industrial Psychology, HR, OD, Ethics) is preferred.
*Experience
oIdeally, 8-10 years of demonstrated experience in supervisory roles or in Legal, Human Resources or Compliance-related positions.
oSuccessful experience performing in a broad-based program that requires working with, leading and influencing leaders and colleagues across different cultures and work-place situations.
oMediation and conflict resolution experience/training preferred.
oPrior Ombudsman experience or International Ombudsman Association training or certification is beneficial.

*Other Skills & Qualifications
oFluency in English and Mandarin or Japanese required.
oDemonstrated ability to collaborate, influence and credibly interact with all management and employee groups and to maintain strong working relationships.
oExcellent communications and presentation skills and the ability to be effective with all audiences and positions within Pfizer and externally.
oDemonstrated ability to provide focused thinking and/or direction for emerging issue trends.
oReputation of being ethical, having high integrity, and having the ability to be neutral, independent and accessible.
