Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
As a Sustaining Technical Program Manager, you will be ensuring the smooth, continuous production of complex products. You will be the center of communication between our production partners and cross-functional teams. You are well versed in the CM/ODM manufacturing environments for high quality consumer products. You will be able to work in a fast paced and sometimes high pressure environment, as you work with teams to solve problems that gate production line operations.
Responsibilities
Manage large scope projects from DVT into ramp thru EOL; provide technical assessment of existing or new manufacturing partners; identify and ensure ongoing technical risks are identified and mitigated or resolved.
Partner closely with the Engineering teams and SQE during DVT/PVT phases of development and product introduction.
Work with TPMs to identify manufacturing processes to meet yield targets - Develop test processes to ensure quality.
Work with suppliers and production engineers to develop, improve, and service fixtures to ensure correct performance.
Provide single technical voice to product project teams after ramp; serve as technical lead in resolving complex issues during life of product.
Minimum Qualifications
BS or BA engineering degree in ME or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
MS and/or MBA degree or equivalent experience into both Design Engineering and Manufacturing.
Experience managing a functional engineering teams.
Proven track record of excellent project management skills, delivering project on-time, working in a matrix organization.
Excellent track record of managing a cross-functional team in order to achieve new product objectives inclusive of quality, yield and cost.
Experience working with international OEM partners.
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
