Job Description

Finance Director

Basic Function: The controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP or IFRS.

Principal Responsibilities:

Management
  1. Oversee the day-to-day Finance function and accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure and staffing adequate for supporting a rapidly growing company and potential capital markets transaction(s).
  2. Work with CFO to establish accounting policies and procedures.
  3. Ongoing tracking of detailed cost structure items, and regular management reporting.
  4. Establish and maintain internal control systems and policies and procedures.
  5. Oversee the purchasing and administration functions, vis-à-vis regular purchasing, capital expenditures and expansion.
Transactions
  1. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  2. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
  3. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  4. Ensure the processing of payroll in a timely manner
  5. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  6. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis (as applicable), and act as company interface for local debt financing relationships
  7. Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system
  8. Develop & maintain a system of internal controls over accounting transactions
Reporting
  1. Issue timely and complete financial statements
  2. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, as required by management
  3. Ongoing analysis of monthly operating results against budget
  4. Work alongside CFO in the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  5. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  6. Provide for a system of management cost reports
  7. Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Compliance
  1. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for regular audit
  2. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants (if applicable)
  3. Comply with local and national government reporting requirements and tax filings (both in PRC and US, as well as other potential jurisdictions)
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in transaction evaluation and due diligence (e.g. potential acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.).
  2. Assist in preparations for potential capital raising(s) and lead post-transaction quarterly and annual regulatory reporting.

Location: Shanghai, with occasional business travel as needed.

Compensation: Base salary + annual cash bonus (range depends on individual and overall company performance) + stock options.

Desired Skills & Experience

Desired Qualifications:

The ideal Finance Director candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or Finance and 6-9 years of progressively responsible experience in US GAAP and/or IFRS Accounting for a Multi-National Corporation (MNC) in China. Fluency in Mandarin and Proficient/Advanced English are a must. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant designation, and experience in a Big-4 public accounting firm.
