Finance Director
Basic Function: The controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP or IFRS.
Principal Responsibilities:
Management
- Oversee the day-to-day Finance function and accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure and staffing adequate for supporting a rapidly growing company and potential capital markets transaction(s).
- Work with CFO to establish accounting policies and procedures.
- Ongoing tracking of detailed cost structure items, and regular management reporting.
- Establish and maintain internal control systems and policies and procedures.
- Oversee the purchasing and administration functions, vis-à-vis regular purchasing, capital expenditures and expansion.
Transactions
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Ensure the processing of payroll in a timely manner
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis (as applicable), and act as company interface for local debt financing relationships
- Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system
- Develop & maintain a system of internal controls over accounting transactions
Reporting
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, as required by management
- Ongoing analysis of monthly operating results against budget
- Work alongside CFO in the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Compliance
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for regular audit
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants (if applicable)
- Comply with local and national government reporting requirements and tax filings (both in PRC and US, as well as other potential jurisdictions)
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in transaction evaluation and due diligence (e.g. potential acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.).
- Assist in preparations for potential capital raising(s) and lead post-transaction quarterly and annual regulatory reporting.
Location: Shanghai, with occasional business travel as needed.
Compensation: Base salary + annual cash bonus (range depends on individual and overall company performance) + stock options.
Desired Skills & Experience
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal Finance Director candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or Finance and 6-9 years of progressively responsible experience in US GAAP and/or IFRS Accounting for a Multi-National Corporation (MNC) in China. Fluency in Mandarin and Proficient/Advanced English are a must. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant designation, and experience in a Big-4 public accounting firm.
