Job description
This position is accountable for the development and execution of the logistics and procurement strategy and tactics, for all Business Units within Ingersoll-Rand Asia Pacific and India (API). This position ensures alignment, participation and execution of API sourcing strategies. The position also develops and executes the long-term strategy for API Logistics and ensures alignment with Global Supply Chain strategies.
The value of the position will be demonstrated in the achievement of negotiating, working collaboratively with the business units, and managing the API Transportation Spend for IR businesses (~$40M), while further lowering of costs through cross business processes, and assisting in the introduction of technology and techniques that add efficiency to the overall process. In addition, this position performs the duties as the SBU Logistics Leader for the HVAC/Transport Solutions, AP & India SBU.
Job Summary:
• Develops and executes API Logistics Strategy
• Manage & Implement IR’s API transportation providers with a spend of ~$40M.
• Manage & oversee import/export execution and providers
• Responsible for API Supply Chain Optimization, creating and executing JIT strategies, improving customer service, outsourcing basic functions, reducing lead time, reducing overall cycle time,
• Responsible for Freight Audit and Payment and standardizing process, creating Match pay process, etc.
• Create, develop, implement, and drive year over year productivity of 5%
• Work with business units & third parties to implement best practices in transportation management.
• Develop options, and assist in systems solutions to implement a transportation management system within IR.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
10+ years of experience within Logistics
Knowledge of all modes of transportation, including comparative differences between various modes and the effects of those differences
Knowledgeable in rating and pricing schemes and methods for all transportation modes, including the mechanics of LTL class rate tariffs, small parcel zone-based tariffs, and TL mileage based tariffs; as well as the basis for accessorial charges
Knowledgeable in freight classification systems including NMFC classification and density based classifications
Clear understanding of concepts that affect transportation costs, including lane balance, backhaul v/s head haul, seasonal capacity; transmit time requirements, freight handling characteristics, etc.
A thorough understanding of all elements of the supply chain, and the interrelationships and impact
Collaboration with IR business units is a significant success factor for this position. This position must influence the behavior of other supply chain and operations leaders within the company.
Problem solving requires strong quantitative analysis skills. Actual solution determination balances both quantitative and qualitative input.
Understanding of cross business unit collaboration to drive synergy and productivity.
Must have great relationship building skills.
Solutions may be constrained by existing laws and must include appropriate consideration. Understanding of industry rate structures for various shipping modes is essential for analyzing rates and proposals.
4 year college degree in Logistics, Business, and/or Finance/Accounting.
MBA preferred
