Director - Engineering International - Euro-Pro - Suzhou, Shenzhen


Job description Summary of Position This position will act as the technical leader for the International product category participating as a member of the core team and will be responsible for the development of new products from initial concepts to product delivery. The primary focus of this role will be to define, develop and prove out International market deviations and support market compliance activities. In addition, this position includes managing the Asian Engineering implementation team to put all new products into production and verifying that they meet product requirements and engineering specifications as tooled, qualified and produced in volume. Essential Functions Responsible for planning, management, and execution of all new product development, Sustaining Engineering and U.S. product international redesign projects and New International specific projects for the Kitchen, Hard Floor, Vacuum and Garment Care product category, including: Design Engineering Product Requirements and Specifications Project scoping and risk assessment (Engineering) FMEA and DFMEA analysis Engineering Change Notice Prototyping, Engineering Test plans & testing Design Reviews Tool Release, Engineering Builds Pilot runs through full scale Production. Managing engineering support teams encompassing enabling technologies, specialist engineering functions, product definition, design for manufacture, and project management. Identify opportunities to drive the expansion of Euro-Pro’s International products including process improvements and change management programs to improve overall quality and operational efficiency. Performs competitor product benchmarking and collaborates with quality team to define product performance metrics and test methods. Applies best practices in establishing and validating product requirements and specifications. Conducts internal and external design reviews and manages the execution of resulting action items. Collaborates with China Manufacturing Engineering team over tool development and engineering build requirements. Actively participates in program updates and issues action items to assigned team members. Works across global resources located in different time zones. Builds solid working relationships and cooperation skills with other personnel through effective communication. Works with Quality to prioritize and evaluate product returns and related tear down information for the category. Development of subordinates through leadership and mentoring. Create clear goals, objectives and metrics on how they are measured. Building and maintaining relationships with primary contractors and suppliers to ensure successful cooperation through pre-production phases and beyond. Additional Responsibilities Actively work with the U.S. and Asian Engineering teams to incorporate International, IEC and other market design requirements into the standard practice design initiatives to ensure a seamless relationship between ID and Engineering, enhancing creativity, and the execution and speed to market. It’s critical that the candidate is experienced in integrating the disciplines effectively to secure a strategic advantage. Industry experience in consumer durables required Far East experience required 3+ years of on the job experience in high volume consumer products manufactured in Asia, strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience as a leader of cross-functional teams in a matrix organization environment Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with good sound interpersonal skills. Experience working effectively in a cross-functional team environment is essential. Detail-oriented, versatile, organized, articulate and professional. Able to cope with constant change and competing priorities and ability to juggle several projects simultaneously. Understanding of international compliance requirements
