Job description
Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Our team is responsible for delivering the Java platform that is used by millions of developers. Responsibilities

We're looking for a hands-on leader with thorough knowledge of Java to ramp up a new team. We hire directors with software development and management background. Our goal is to have directors capable of managing highly talented engineers distributed around the world, in a high paced environment, to develop world class software. Directors need to be hands on and able to build and understand code. Growth in this role means being able to deliver results in a timely manner, assessing risks and defining a mitigation plan, and making sure the deliverables are of the highest quality. The primary focus for this position will be on Java technologies and globalization (g11n).
We hire Java developers to write code to test/exercise Java platform. Our goal is to have engineers writing robust, reliable, repeatable and maintainable tests that find issues early and cover the area of the component under testing. Demonstrated ability to recruit and hire talented Java developers and ramp up a team
Strong Java application development and coding ability with prior experience in Internationalization or localization of the application
Strong knowledge of Java Core Library in Network or Security or XML
A strong technical background as well as good verbal and written communication skills
You will be expected to work with a wide range of features and component teams in order to drive quality product in the Java and globalization areas
Create the next generation of testing tools, techniques, and infrastructure to improve the speed of release cycles
Work closely with engineering teams to understand new technologies, design and develop test suite to ensure the quality of the product
Managing test, resource and hardware plans to ensure product quality, increase code coverage and minimize bug escapes to customers
Ensuring timely software releases by improving efficiency, productivity and consistency through automation

Job
Strong Java programming background and experience with shell scripting
BS in a technical discipline. MS desirable. At least 5 years of management experience in software quality
Motivated and results oriented individual who is highly technical and has hands on coding ability
Experience with globalization and localization testing
Working experience on Linux/Unix/Windows
Extensive test and troubleshooting experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills together with demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring skills
Ability to thrive and grow in a fast paced team environment
Ability to conceive, plan, implement, and collaborate with distributed teams on process improvements and productivity enhancement tools
A desire to learn new skills
