Job Description

Autodesk seeks an experienced and results-driven User Experience Manager for our Architecture|Engineering|Construction (AEC) Division in Autodesk China R&D Center (ACRD) based in Shanghai, China.

This is your chance to help shape the future of design tools for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industries. As a User Experience Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the application of user-centered design methods and practices to the creation of best in class applications for the building industry built on the Autodesk Revit platform.

You will develop and manage a team of interaction designers, visual designers, and usability specialists responsible for the research, design, prototyping, and specification of product experiences that meet demanding quality standards. You will work with local and remote design, development, and quality assurance teams to guide your team's work through the software development process to deliver innovative, exciting, and emotionally engaging products that solve real customer problems.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the AEC Shanghai user experience team, including setting priorities, assigning resources, and ensuring that team and project goals are achieved.
  • Partner with U.S. AEC user experience design teams to shape the overall design strategy, and to act as the key point of contact for the AEC product design team in Shanghai.
  • Translate high-level organizational goals to group and individual goals.
  • Mentor designers and guide their professional development.
  • Review research, requirements, project plans, and design solutions to ensure consistent, high quality results.
  • Ensure the establishment of project goals and user experience objectives that consider both interaction and learning needs.
  • Drive user- focused field research, data collection, and analysis to identify user problems.
  • Partner with other team members in product management, quality assurance, software development, and localization to ensure project success and to meet business objectives.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and teamwork.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that make the group more efficient and effective.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness and involvement in product development and design activities around the company.
  • Maintain a level of professional expertise through an ongoing program of formal training and individual study in the user experience field.

Qualifications
  • BS or MS in HCI, Human Factors, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field combined with 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience building and leading teams.
  • Multi-national experience a plus.
  • Excellent project and program management skills with proven experience managing and tracking large complex projects.
  • A thorough understanding of Goal-Directed Design practices and principles.
  • Experience in gathering and documenting business, functional, and interaction requirements and developing user interface designs.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of modern software development processes and concerns as they relate to design.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Verbal and written fluency in Mandarin.
  • Experience with UI design on desktop applications is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience designing for complex creative applications, 3D tools, and/or engineering analysis tools, and building industry applications a plus.
  • Experience with designing for web, mobile and distributed software services a plus.
